Community & Environmental Health Week: March 13-17, 2017

Community and Environmental Health week will be devoted to promoting individual and community responsibility. This year we have chosen Clean Air and Pollution Prevention as our main theme, along with Energy Conservation. This week was selected in conjunction with Earth Hour which is a worldwide event held on March 25.

How can you help your community to stay healthy? What can you do to promote respect for the environment and ensure that we live in a healthy world? Please consider:

    • Clean air is necessary for a healthy life.
    • Understand the importance of air quality to the health of a community.

We will be tracking our electricity use over the week to see how we can reduce our consumption.

A trip to Minato Resource Recycle Center is also being planned. This trip will allow our children to learn more about managing our resources to contribute to a healthier tomorrow. Check here for the center's Japanese website. Tokyo is now finishing up the last patch of its landfill and only has the capacity for 30 more years if we keep on using it the same way. We hope this tour becomes a trigger for the students to change their daily habits.
