Social Studies

The Social Studies program supports students in understanding the world in which they live. Students are actively engaged in meaningful inquiry that encourages discussion, fosters respect for self and others, and cultivates global perspectives and social responsibility. The Social Studies program emphasizes a deeper knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the world.

As an additional course, Japanese Social Studies provides an extended opportunity for students to engage with Japanese geography, history, and culture. Classes are taught in Japanese or English, providing all students additional opportunities to learn Japanese vocabulary in context. Students develop an understanding of the political, economic, and social systems of our host country.
